B.V.Sc or Bachelor of Veterinary Science is an Under-Graduate Veterinary Science Course that deals with the branch of science dealing with all types of Animals. Veterinary Science, in specific terms, deals with the application of medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic principles to various types of Animals. The duration of a Bachelor of Veterinary Science is mostly five academic years including a compulsory internship of 6 months duration covered in more or less 10 Semesters. The duration of the course may vary from 4½ to 5 years depending on the duration of the internship. The course is also referred to as B.V.Sc & AHB, an abbreviated form for Bachelor in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry.

The Veterinary Science course is aimed to teach students how to recognize, treat medically and surgically, and prevent illnesses in animals such as home pets, farm animals, zoo animals,

The veterinary science degree program combines academic and practical instruction in a variety of subjects. Veterinary studies are mostly offered by Agricultural Institutes in India. A ‘Veterinarian’ is a candidate who completes the course. Animal enthusiasts will benefit the most from the veterinary program. An applicant must have a sympathetic attitude toward animals. Because animals cannot convey their pain and suffering verbally, it is necessary to be extremely attentive to Animal Behaviour in order to detect any indication of discomfort or aberrant behavior.
